New Testament scholars have put forth the idea that Jesus was not born on December 25 but likely He was born in the spring of the year. It is commonly admitted by scholars that Christ was not born in the dead of winter. But the ancient church, administered by men, originated the idea of celebrating His birth in late December.
Is the traditional conquering power of God weakened by replacing the pagan ritual celebrated on December 25?
No, the truth and full purpose of God’s plan for mankind is not dependent on men’s rituals and rites. The tradition of the conquering power of Christianity over pagan ritual is the major reason that the ancient Church, made of men, adopted a thoroughly pagan custom as a Christian holiday.
Obedience to God is the key to growth in the Biblical knowledge of Jesus Christ. And God’s Holy Word does not specify any specific date to turn to God and His Word, the Bible, for understanding and solutions. And it does not specify any day not to worship God and His coming as the Baby Jesus.
The gospel of God concerning His Son Jesus Christ, who was born of the seed of David, contains a powerful message for the world. Christ came with the power of the universe behind Him in a mission to bring salvation for all mankind.
Observe the important mission of God’s Son.
Jesus Christ came as the Son of God. He was born of a virgin according to prophecy. His life, death, resurrection and ascension revolutionized the prospects of mankind. Nothing can tarnish the presence or history of God on this earth through the life of Jesus. But to know Christ and the Father we must worship in spirit and in truth (John 4:21-24). That truth rings out no matter what day we celebrate God’s grace and blessings.
How important is it that the anniversary be celebrated on a specific date?
Make Christmas the season you discover the truth about God and His purpose for you. Begin with a short study of the circumstances of Christ’s birth as it is recorded in Scripture. Do not allow contention about the exact day of Christ’s birth to cloud that Holy event’s celebration. Just as us Jesus told us that we are not to know the date of His second coming, so also the Bible does not tell us His birth date. That date is not as important as the Gospel of Jesus.
In conclusion, the Daily Bread email message sent on 7/26/2022 says,
John 4:23, 24 – But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers. God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth. (NASB)
Yes, Jesus was actually born in the spring and not on December 25. In the name of truth, should you abandon Christmas?
I invite you to consider that the Church, of men, decided to celebrate Jesus’ birth by the tradition of the conquering power of Christianity over a pagan ritual. That is the reason for adopting a thoroughly pagan custom as a Christian holiday.
No matter what day we devote to the remembrance of His birth, the Gospel of God concerning His Son Jesus Christ, who was born of the seed of David, contains a powerful message for the world. Christ came with the power of the universe behind Him in a mission to bring salvation for all mankind.
God is spirit, and someday we will worship Him outside of any church or denomination and worship His Spirit (John 4:21). Just as we worship Him anywhere, everywhere and any time, all of the time, we can worship His birth on any day the believer deems to be appropriate or we feel the need.
