Are You Bearing Fruit?

Jesus described believers that bear fruit. In the Gospels, He described them in the story of a sower’s seed falling on different ground.

The Seed in the Good Soil

We true believers are the seed that fell on the good soil. The good soil is the Gospel of Jesus. True believers bear fruit.

The fruit we bear is described in Galatians 5:22-23. The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

The Fruit Believers Bear

Others should see the fruit in our life.  By bearing fruit, we are becoming more like Jesus. Spiritual fruit will show itself in our lives as a change in our character and outlook.

What God Expects From True Believers

God is not asking for you to live a perfect life. But He is asking that these fruits be primary characteristics of your life lived for Him.

The Daily Bread email message for Wed & Thur 6/8 & 6/9/2022, says:

Luke 8:15 – But the seed in the good soil, these are the ones who have heard the word in an honest and good heart, and hold it fast, and bear fruit with perseverance. (NASB)

The concept of bearing fruit is used often in Scripture. In the Gospels, Jesus told the story of a sower who went out to sow seed. The seed fell on various types of ground. Jesus said that the seed in the good soil was a picture of a different people who heard the gospel. Those people are true believers who bring forth fruit. The people bearing fruit are becoming like Jesus. Spiritual fruit will show itself in our lives as a change in our character and outlook. As we spend time with Jesus and get to know Him better, His thoughts will become our thoughts, and His purpose will become our purpose. The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control (Galatians 5:22-23). That fruit is what others should see in your life. God is not asking for you to live a perfect life. But He is asking that these fruits be primary characteristics of your life lived for Him.

  1. Can I simply say what a comfort to find someone who actually understands what they are discussing on the net. You definitely understand how to bring an issue to light and make it important. More people should check this out and understand this side of the story. I was surprised that you are not more popular since you most certainly have the gift.
