How to Complete Your Commission

At first glance, does the Great Commission seem to be a great burden? It actually is not! When you apply the directions of Christ, you will be helped. God provides the Holy Spirit, without limit, to help you teach the Word of God (John 3:34).

The Great Commission

Matthew quoted Jesus issuing the Great Commission:

Matthew 25:19, 20 – Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. (NASB)

The Great Commission Mandates Evangelism

The Great Commission’s principal directive is to go and make disciples of everyone. Beyond that, the commission tells us how we are to accomplish the mission. We are to baptize them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

How Do You Accomplish Evangelism?

Beyond the command, the Great Commission also tells us how we are to accomplish the mission. We are to baptize them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

How do we accomplish the baptism? We tell them the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We demonstrate God’s love, and we serve them. We continue preaching and demonstrating Christ’s love until they believe. Then we baptize them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

The Additional Duty

But the Great Commission does not end there. We have the duty of making disciples of those newly baptized Christians. We perform that task by “teaching them to observe all that I commanded you.” To teach them this obedience we have to share the Bible and all of Christ’s commands.

A Mentor

Do not despair the difficulties of living up to this additional responsibility. Because Christ, and the Holy Spirit, have simplified this duty by providing His guidance. He tells us that “I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” He assured us of His continual presence as we obey His command.

Praise God for giving us such an easily done commission.
